Every year thousands of eligible students get disqualified or miss deadlines simply because they misread or misunderstood the official admission circular. This guide teaches you how to read any university circular carefully — so you extract exactly what you need to act on and nothing important slips through.
| Term in Circular | What It Actually Means | Action Required |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum GPA (Total) | SSC GPA + HSC GPA combined must reach this number | Add both GPAs and compare before applying |
| Minimum GPA (Individually) | Each of SSC and HSC GPA must meet the minimum separately | Check both GPAs independently — either can disqualify you |
| Attested Copy | Photocopy signed by a gazetted officer or principal | Get copies attested before the circular is even published |
| Admit Card Download | A separate step after application — the card is not automatic | Set a reminder for the admit card release date |
| Seat Confirmation | A second payment made after selection to secure your seat | Keep funds ready — window is typically 3 to 5 days only |
| Merit List vs Waiting List | Initial selection vs reserve selection if seats open up | If on waiting list, check the portal daily during the window |
| Migration | After first round, upgrading to a higher-preference department | Opt into migration if you want a better department option |
Some circulars require a minimum GPA in each subject separately in addition to the overall GPA. Students who meet the overall GPA but fail one subject requirement are still disqualified. Read the fine print every time.
Each university has a specific transaction reference code for their application fee. Sending money without the correct reference means your payment cannot be verified. The circular states this code explicitly.
Some institutions including Bangladesh University of Textiles and selected engineering colleges have an upper age limit for applicants. Students who miss this detail discover their ineligibility only at the exam gate.
After initial admission, a migration window opens for eligible students to move to preferred departments. Missing this window means staying in a less preferred programme for the entire degree.
